Google shows how governments are getting information about you
Google has released a report on how governments and police agencies are accessing information about web users. By showing how many requests Google gets for user information — and exactly how many users and accounts are under some kind of surveillance — the company hopes to have a positive effect on public policies around government access to citizens’ online activities.
Foursquare to relaunch Instapaper for places feature
Foursquare a little over a year ago tried launching an “Add to Foursquare” embeddable button for web publishers, which allowed users to save venues to their to-do list in Foursquare. The service died out after a few months after publishers gave up on the feature. But now Foursquare is poised to relaunch Add to Foursquare under the new name Save to Foursquare in the next month. The button should work similarly for users, but will be a lot easier to implement for publishers. In the past, publishers got bogged down coding each story or review and syncing them with a Foursquare location, which slowed down the whole process and forced most to give up. Now, publishers just need to add one line of code to their content management system to automate the process.

So, as a brand marketer, you want to know what online channels you should be targeting in order to reach the perfect audience for your product. But regardless of what kind of consumer you’re trying to reach or what you’re selling, your SEO better be top notch — search is the most important influence on the web.
Anonymous plans three-pronged attack on November 5
